U-KWON, known as BLOCK B’s “genius child”

Known as the “genius child” of Block B, U-Kwon—who has recently been gaining attention with his workshops and successful projects—answered questions that Turkish fans have been curious about!

1. Hello U-Kwon! First of all, how are you?

I’ve been very busy with musical activities. I’m also working hard to prepare new music.

2. How have you been spending your time lately? You seem quite busy with solo activities, travels, and events.

Recently, I held events in Romania and Paris and just got back. I also had fan meetings in Korea, so it’s been a very busy period. I’m preparing a new album as well.

3. You’ve been active in the industry for a long time. Have you ever felt tired because of it?

There were times I felt tired when my schedule was extremely busy. But now, I try to see everything I do as valuable and enjoy it as much as possible.

4. What was the biggest factor that led you into this industry? When was the moment you said, “This is it, I want to be on stage”?

Since I was young, I used to watch artists performing on music shows and dream about it. I’ve wanted to be on stage from a very early age.

5. Where do you get your inspiration when making music?

Sometimes I get inspired by movies and TV series. I also draw inspiration from conversations with people and things from everyday life.

6. Is there a song you can’t stop listening to these days? If so, which one?

I’ve been listening to a lot of J-Pop lately. I like “Yoru no Odoriko” by Sakanaction. It became popular on Reels as the “little captain” song, and I like it more every time I listen to it.

7. Was there a turning point in your career? If so, when?

I think it was the period after I returned from military service. It took time for me to readjust, and since then, it has been one of the hardest-working periods of my life.

8. Do you have plans to release a new album?

I’ll be sharing some great songs with you soon.

9. Is there a music genre you’d like to try in the future?

I’d like to make band music.

10. What do you think is the hardest part of being famous?

I think becoming famous in the first place is already very difficult. These days, there are many opportunities to promote yourself, but competition is also very high, so it’s really hard to become famous.

11. Have you ever been to Turkey? Is there anywhere you’d like to visit?

I was only at the airport briefly during a layover recently. I definitely want to visit Istanbul.

12. We highly recommend that you try real kebab and kaymak. We’re sure you’ll love them.

I definitely want to go and try them on the spot.

13. Would you like to hold a concert in Turkey one day?

If I get the chance, I would definitely love to.

14. If you had to describe yourself in one word, what would it be?

Hmm… I think it would be “beer.”

15. Lastly, do you have a message for your fans in Turkey?

Thank you so much to BBC who always support us. We’ll continue to show you great things with good projects in the future, so please keep following us.
