1. Please introduce yourselves!
SAEJIN: Hello, I’m SAEJIN, the world’s first male AI idol.
EUGENE: I’m EUGENE, SUPERKIND’s eldest member.
GEON: I’m SUPERKIND’s physical, GEON.
JDV: Hello I’m SUPERKIND’s secret weapon and dance machine, JDV.
SEUNG: I’m SEUNG, the tallest in SUPERKIND.
SiO: I’m a youthful and passionate member who freshly turned 20, SiO!
DAEMON: And I’m SUPERKIND’s Leader, DAEMON. Nice to meet you.
2. Please introduce your new song ‘MOODY’? Do you have any funny episodes that happened during the creation process to share with our readers?
JDV: ‘MOODY’ has a mysterious atmosphere, but it’s a song with romance in it. I tried to immerse myself in the story when recording the song.
SEUNG: I hope you watch the ‘MOODY’ music video. Because it contains my story. In the song, my favorite part is when EUGENE and I sing as if we are having a conversation.
EUGENE: There’s a lot of acting in the music video, so I tried my best to make it look good. While working on the song, I was immersed in the story world, and I sang as if I was talking to SEUNG.
DAEMON: So far, I’ve been mainly in charge of rap, but in ‘MOODY’, I’ve expanded my scope to vocal parts. There was a funny episode when we were practicing the choreography. In the ending pose, when EUGENE comes out and sits on SiO and my laps, he plays a prank that surprises me every time. In fact, EUGENE only sits on my lap, which isn’t too hard since he’s so light.
SiO: During the chorus part I sing back and forth between my natural and falsetto voice to make this part sounds prettier. For the choreography, I tried using strong facial expressions to match the atmosphere of the song.
GEON: For me, the song ‘MOODY’ feels like a heartbreaking love story. Friendship is part of love! For the choreography, I was so powerful that I had to try to relax to match the vibe.
3. How was your chemistry with the new members, SEUNG and JDV?
GEON: Actually, JDV led us. He also helped DAEMON with leading the dance practices.
JDV: I’m a little embarrassed. Since I was a trainee, I had a lot of experience working with SUPERKIND members, so I was able to join naturally.
SiO: Personally, I’m happy to have a friend of my age.
SEUNG: Recently, I’ve been filming TikTok every day, and if I take it with SAEJIN, one or two takes are enough to wrap it up. I think we’re in good harmony.
SAEJIN: These words are so touching. With a new member joining the NUKE team, I was worried if I could fulfill my NUKE Leader role, but I’m grateful that SEUNG is following me well.
4. When is it good to listen to ‘MOODY’?
SEUNG: It’s a good song to listen to in the morning when you have no energy! You may not be able to sleep if you listen to it at night.
SAEJIN: I disagree with SEUNG. It’s good to listen at night or dawn. Please listen to “WATCH OUT” in the morning!
EUGENE: It’s good to listen to when you’re driving by the river. Especially the whistling part that suits this mood well.
DAEMON: When you’re overhyped, listening to ‘MOODY’ when you need to be calm can also be relaxing.
SiO: To me it’s the opposite. You should listen to ‘MOODY’ when you want to scream! I At the climax of a song, your emotions will run high.
GEON: When you work out! I was listening to ‘MOODY’ while I succeeded at lifting 230 kg on a deadlift. If you want to get stronger, make sure to listen to it!
JDV: On ‘MOODY’ release day, I went to a restaurant with my family, and the restaurant owner turned on ‘MOODY’. I was in such a good mood then… So I want to say it’s a good song to listen to when you eat! Oh, I also listen to it often when I take a shower.
GEON: For your information, Juchan (JDV) likes to dance with no clothes on. I think he also danced to ‘MOODY’ like this a lot.
SiO: Me too I like to dance in the shower! Dancing and singing.
5. In the future, what kind of concept do you want to try as SUPERKIND?
DAEMON: I want to try UK Garage or funk genre. I think it will fit well as a grand opening song for our concert that we will hold someday.
SAEJIN: A song with a refreshing atmosphere. I heard a lot that my hair looks like cotton candy, so I want to sing a sweet song.
SiO: I’m into ‘Tarzan Boy’ these days, so it’d be fun if we each become animals and do a jungle concept! GEON is Tarzan, JDV is Cheetah, DAEMON is Sloth, EUGENE is Rabbit? What should I be…
DAEMON: A frilled lizard!
JDV: I want to try an oriental style like ‘Aladdin’. Someday, I want to try a concept where heroes gather like ‘Avengers’.
GEON: I want to try electronic hip-hop, which is full of energy. As for the concept, PRID is a hero, and NUKE is the villain and we fight!
SEUNG: I also want to have more NUKE members and do a fancy performance like competing against PRID.
EUGENE: I also want to try band music like ‘0X1=LOVESONG’. I also want to try a cute concept!
SiO: What about Jungle style?
EUGENE: Is that cute?
6. Why did you decide to become an idol?
SAEJIN: At first, I didn’t have a dream of becoming an idol. As a trainee, I found out that there were people who love me. I was so thrilled by the feeling of being loved that I became an idol.
SEUNG: It’s a secret to the company, but I actually got scouted by a lot of companies to become an Idol, but I turned them down. However, I joined SUPERKIND thinking it would be cool to work with PRID members.
SAEJIN: SEUNG, please be careful when you talk about the casting!
DAEMON: I grew up watching Michael Jackson and Queen, and they made me want to be on stage. I naturally dreamed of becoming an idol because I thought that there was no field that could digest a variety of music genres like K-pop.
SiO: I grew up listening to K-pop music with/under my sister’s influence, and naturally I started to like dancing and singing. I was thinking about what I could do to have the most fun and found my way to being an idol.
JDV: Originally, I didn’t have a dream of becoming an idol, but I followed my friend’s audition and auditioned on the spot at the suggestion of the staff. Eventually, my friend failed, and I passed. I found myself having fun dancing and practicing, and I dreamed of becoming an idol while watching Taemin’s videos.
GEON: I want to give people positive energy. I think being an idol is a job that can give a positive influence. Someday, I want to create a scholarship foundation and help my friends who dream of becoming artists.
EUGENE: I thought it was cool to be able to touch and heal people’s hearts through music. That’s what I aim to achieve.
7. Who is your idol?
JDV: Thanks to Taemin, I started dreaming of becoming an idol. He will always be my idol.
DAEMON: Diplo. He said to be inspired by going to other countries in person when he makes music. I want to learn how to deal with and master diversity.
SiO: IU! When I listened to the ‘Modern Times’ album for the first time, I thought that the music was so good that I diligently bought the album, and listened to the tracks a lot.
SEUNG: Michael Jackson! He’s the one who broke stereotypes. I’m using him as a role model because I want to break the rules too. Besides, he has the same hair length as me.
GEON: I like Choi San of ATEEZ for his dancing and Haechan of NCT for his singing. I want to learn their good points.
EUGENE: I want to resemble Zico for his rap and Dean for his singing. For the star qualities and charming points, I want to resemble YEONJUN, a member of TXT, who is also a friend.
SAEJIN: I like NCT, especially Taeyong and Jaehyun who are my idols. I homaged them in my debut teaser as well, and I often do dance covers as a fan.
8. What song inspires you these days?
SiO: I listen to a lot of movie OSTs. The ‘Moon Song’ from the movie “Her” and ‘Pale Blue Eyes’ from the movie “The Contact” will remain in my mind for a long time.
JDV: I’ve liked Anson Seabra’s songs for a long time. Even when people didn’t know him, I listened to this artist’s songs a lot.
SEUNG: ‘Love’ by John Lennon.
DAEMON: ‘Genius’ of LSD! It’s a little different from the style of music I pursue, so I’m rather inspired.
GEON: The song that gave me confidence is ‘Cupid’ by FIFTY FIFTY. Billboard, we can also do it!
SAEJIN: ‘Heaven’ by Avicii. The king of EDM. Make sure to listen to it!
EUGENE: Zior Park’s ‘BLACK FIN’. I was amazed that he could write lyrics and rhyme like this. His rap flow and voice are attractive.
9. What’s your biggest dream right now?
SAEJIN: Growing SUPERKIND’s influence.
EUGENE: #1 on Billboard!
DAEMON: Meet Players.
GEON: Muscle Idol.
JDV: Being someone’s role model.
SEUNG: World tour!
SiO: Stage.
10. Do you have any memories related to Turkey?
DAEMON: When I was a trainee, I happened to be interviewed by a Turkish magazine. At that time, I was so grateful that many Turkish people followed and supported my Instagram. Turkey means a lot to me because it is the country of people who made me realize that the driving force behind idol activities is the love of fans. I even studied Turkish to be able to communicate with them.
GEON: I also received a lot of love from Turkish fans. Thanks to their cheering messages, I was able to gain confidence while working as a trainee. I really want to go to Turkey later! Oh, and I really want to eat Kaymak.
11. Do you have any plans to hold a concert in Turkey someday?
EVERYONE: Absolutely! We really want to hold a concert.
12. What would you like to say to your fans in Turkey?
GEON: Turkish Players, I debuted! I’ll keep working hard until we grow our recognition.
JDV: Thank you for supporting our group, loving us, and listening to MOODY.
SAEJIN: Thank you for loving me, who only existed in pictures. I will also always remember you.
EUGENE: We will come soon to hold a concert, so please wait.
SEUNG: We will go to meet you soon.
SiO: I feel like it’s not easy to like us from such a long distance. So I’m even more grateful that you like us that much. I’ll work harder.
DAEMON: Thank you for liking us. Recently you have suffered a lot from an earthquake, and it broke my heart because there’s nothing I can do for you right away. I will work hard to become a person who becomes more influential and comforting.
