WE Special: Interview With HELLO GLOOM & FROM20
Our White Entertainment interview series welcomes HELLO GLOOM and FROM20, who have transitioned from idols to solo artists.
Here’s our delightful interview with HELLO GLOOM and FROM20, who have proven themselves in everything from songwriting to music and video production, about their idol life and music career! Enjoy.
1. Can you introduce yourself?
· HELLO GLOOM- Hello, I’m Hello Gloom, who works as both a producer and an artist.
· FROM20- Hello. I am From20 working as artist and video director.
2. How did you start your music career?
· HELLO GLOOM- I dreamed of being a musician and by chance I auditioned and got cast. That’s how I made my debut by chance, and now I’m working as a singer songwriter.
· FROM20- I thought many times that I hope my music reaches many people. That’s why I thought I should become popular. It was a time when idolism was on trend, naturally I auditioned and debuted.
3. How did you feel when you first stepped on the stage?
· HELLO GLOOM- I think what I felt was an energy that I felt for the first time. I enjoyed interacting with the audience on that chilling scene.
· FROM20- My debut scene was so momentary that I don’t even remember how it happened, I guess I was nervous. With countless practice and doing this over and over, the image where my body automatically moves is probably clearer.
4. You were both previously members of a Kpop group. What was the most important lesson you learned at that time?
· HELLO GLOOM- First of all, it was a very valuable and beautiful experience. I think that my perspective towards music has changed, especially while dancing. I met great music on stage. I learned the value of the fans who support me.
· FROM20- Since being a group and being alone are two different things, I learned a lot about togetherness, cooperation and organizing suggestions. Also, based on my experiences and failures at the time, I became the stronger me now.
5. What do you think is the biggest difference between being a solo singer and a group member?
· HELLO GLOOM- I think I have to do better than anyone else. Anyone on the team can replace my weak points, but when you’re solo, you can’t help but show all your sides, from good to bad. That’s why I think I’m worried about how I can show my good sides more in terms of production.
· FROM20- It is important to have various people together in the group, I think that this synergy should stand out. The weaknesses of each person can be strengthened and replaced by the other. However, I think going solo means spreading that synergy and charm alone. Just like Ungjae, I think a solo artist’s project and production is just as important as a group’s.
6. What inspires you most when making your music?
· HELLO GLOOM- In the songwriting part, I am mostly inspired by the emotions or energy we feel in daily life. Apart from that, I think I get a lot of inspiration while creating new music and works. Therefore, I constantly strive to listen to music of various genres. · FROM20- It is clear to me, my life experiences. I try to think carefully about the emotions I encounter during my life, such as love, separation, joy, failure, and take note of these emotions.
7. What is the subject you talk about the most while writing the lyrics? Is there a message you want to convey through the music you both perform?
· HELLO GLOOM- For sure it has never happened before. Roughly, I would love it if my music could be something that everyone can experience and heal people. In ordinary times, when I am tired or when I want to rest, I look for songs that have similar feelings to those I feel. Generally, it would be nice if my songs also made people feel this way.
· FROM20- In general, I think I give a lot of place to the words ‘no problem’. “Even if you fail, whatever happens, good or bad, is okay. Because that’s how life is, it can go over it again.” I want to convey this message many times. Ultimately, I want to convey positive energy. I want to say that you are the one who is one way or another, and there is no problem when you go with your flow.
8. Do you have any thoughts about making or singing other genres of music?
· HELLO GLOOM- I think it’s fun whenever it’s time to try a new genre. I want to try new music genres every time.
· FROM20- Sometimes, even often, I go to karaoke and sing. I guess I sing slow ballad songs very often in karaoke. When that happens, I suddenly think, “Do the fans hardly know about this side of me” and then continue to think “I guess I can try it anytime”.
9. What is your biggest dream and what do you want to do the most?
· HELLO GLOOM- I really want to start a big company with great friends. Overall, I want to create an environment where these wonderful fellows can happily do their art without getting stressed by their different jobs.
· FROM20- I don’t know what my big dream is, but in general, my dream is to live a healthy and happy life. The project I want to realize is… a world tour? haha
10. Do you have a role model? If yes, who is it?
· HELLO GLOOM- There is no one for sure, but I want to be successful and cool like producer KUSH who became my teacher.
· FROM20- It might be a bit ridiculous, but when I look at Lee So-Man on SM Entertainment lately, I think I really want to be like that. As I get older, I want to be more passionate and emotional in my job and look like that image that I do things well.
11. Is there a song you would like to recommend to Turkish fans?
· HELLO GLOOM- A recently released song, I recommend Parcels – Tieduprightnow.
· FROM20- from20 – 20 …. haha
12. Is there anything you say, ‘I can’t live without it’?
· HELLO GLOOM- My car? Considering that I’ve gotten into the habit of driving, lately, I think I can’t live without my car.
· FROM20- None. As long as there is an environment in which I can breathe, I will somehow live. Uh, no… I should definitely go to the gym.
13. What do you wish for the year 2023?
· HELLO GLOOM- I hope people who do business like me will be healthy and wealthy happily.
· FROM20- Working healthily and happily without getting sick!
14. Have you ever been to Türkiye before?
· HELLO GLOOM- I haven’t gone yet.
· FROM20- I didn’t go either. I definitely want to go!!
15. What do you wonder most about Türkiye?
· HELLO GLOOM- Personally, I like Turkish food very much, so I want to try a lot of dishes.
· FROM20- Ever since I was little, I heard that Türkiye and South Korea are sister countries and there are many similar things. I want to go and experience the culture in person!!
16. After this interview, there will be fans who want to get to know Hello Gloom and From20. Is there anything you want to say to them?
· HELLO GLOOM- We are really good at our music, we make video clips well and we are talented. Therefore, I hope you look forward to seeing us in the future. You won’t be disappointed when you support it. Thanks.
