This time we welcome rock band ROCKIT GIRL in our interview series!
We had an interview with Han Leeseul, the vocalist of the group, who started their music career at a young age, about ROCKIT GIRL’s new mini album “Zombie” and many other topics!
1. First of all, can you introduce yourself?
Hello. I’m Han Leeseul from the rock band Rockit Girl based in South Korea. I’m glad we could meet.
2. How did you start your music career?
I met our current producer Jeon Hojin by chance when I was a trainee at a small agency about 7 years ago, then the rock band was formed.
3. There have been many performances you have given since your debut. Which of these was the most memorable for you?
When the 2022 Qatar World Cup was held, I joined the street supporters in Gwanghwamun. We had planned a stage with my Monkey Head seniors, both the world cup and rock were really exciting. At that time, we were headbanging with my seniors. I want to do a better headbanging next time. ㅋㅋ This moment of me performing as one heart with the audience has taken a deep place in my mind.
4. What inspires you the most in spring?
Gorgeous blooming flowers. Vibrant people of innocent city after rain. I’m also inspired by fashion, which starts with the warmth of the heat and gets lighter.
5. Congratulations on your new EP! What is the most special song for you in this EP and what is the story of that song?
A song. I prepared all the songs to show sincerity. Among them, I present to you “zombie”. The sound of this song is exactly like our group Rockit Girl.
The content of the song is in a world where the virus suddenly spreads, at the moment when your loving ones gradually turn into zombies. If… if I existed in such a world! How would I really feel? A song with such feelings is zombie. Be sure to listen.
6. You do not only rock but also heavy metal or pop covers. Are there any other styles of music you want to cover in the future?
Styles in music are as deep-rooted and diverse as a vast sea. I would like to make a cover, regardless of the style, if it matches the expression style of our Rockit Girl group, among the pieces that give primarily auditory and then visual pleasure.
7. What are the things you want to do in the near future? Is there a concept you want to come up with or an artist you want to work with?
This year, I want to show our music through various channels. We will always be active on Youtube. I want to be with all the bands that have fun with rock. ㅋㅋ music, just do it.
8. What do you like to do most in your spare time? Are there any TV series/movies you follow?
It’s a little strange to call it a hobby when I’m not making music, but compared to music, I’ve been working in the beauty world I’ve been in for a long time.
My day has been going by oddly fast lately. Even so, if there’s a drama that I make time for and watch… there is not any… Oh right. This has been fun lately. Seo Jin’s Kitchen. I’m watching this.
9. What motivates you the most when you are struggling?
When I’m struggling, I look at the stars in the sky and pray. If it doesn’t work that way, I’m going to watch the sea. A life I lived there once… Let me live it. That is how I swear.
10. What are the top 5 songs you listen to the most?
Boy George – Karma chameleon,
Demi Lovato – Cool for the Summer,
Rockitgirl – zombie,
Loving Caliber – you my world on fire,
Billie Eilish – bad guy
I am listening to the above 5 songs with pleasure.
11. Do you have a role model? If so, who?
My role models are SeoTaiji Band and BABYMETAL. My producer Jeon Hojin’s is Metallica.
12. What are 3 things you know about Türkiye?
We are sister country by blood (a country that participated in the Korean War)
It’s capital is Ankara (country on Asia and Europe)
The more famous city of Istanbul.
The country where the Göktürks and Goguryeo had deep historical relations in ancient times.
Country where volleyball player Kim Yeongyeong and soccer player Kim Minjae operate as professional players.
13. Which song would you recommend to Turkish fans?
There is zombie I mentioned earlier, but I also would like to recommend the song “crazy love”. This track has EDM based on the Rockit Girl sound, and if you listen to it as a song about the passionate love between men and women, it’s a song that will make your heart race.
14. Which songs would you recommend to Turkish fans who will read our interview?
I hope that with this opportunity, you will listen to the music of Rockit Girl with more pleasure. Personally, I think that “music is a language that conveys human emotions”. I hope that every song that expresses my own feelings also conveys the feelings of Turkish fans.
