KIK Interview

1. First of all, hello! Could you please introduce yourselves to our readers?.
Wooseok: Hello, I’m Wooseok from KIK. KIK is a band where we steadily create the music we love. We cherish the moments we share and enjoy with our audience on stage the most, and we hope to continue connecting with you through good music and great performances.
Myeongseok: Hello, I’m Oh Myeongsuk, and I play the drums.
Minhyuk: In a world where everything evaporates quickly – Hey, enjoy ‘KIK’
2. Recently, you’ve been performing at many events, and your stage presence and energy are amazing! Even I got hyped just watching through the screen hahaha! Do you have anything you do to relax before going on stage? And among the members, who gets the most nervous or excited before performing?
Wooseok: Thank you so much. To be honest, I think I always feel nervous before hitting the stage. Rather than having a specific routine, we just chat lightly with each other to break the tension before going on. As for who gets the most nervous, I’ll keep that a secret!
Myeongseok: The three of us usually huddle up and give a collective shout to pump ourselves up, but overall, we tend to stay relatively relaxed.
Minhyuk: I always make sure to drink a cup of coffee before the show so I don’t get nervous.
3. As someone who has a musician father and brother, your group caught my attention from the very beginning. Myeongseok, my father is also a drummer! I’m curious about how your journey started. When did you first become interested in playing the drums?
Myeongseok: I first tried playing the drums at the age of 14, following a recommendation from my music teacher. And guess what? The moment I hit them, I just knew. It was an instant feeling that this instrument would be my lifelong companion… I think that feeling is what brought me to where I am today.
4. Minhyuk, if you could play another musical instrument besides the guitar, what would it be? And at what age did you start playing guitar?
Minhyuk: The keyboard! So that I don’t have to carry any gear with me when we go to practice.
Wooseok: I think it’s hard to compare the two. Dancing has its own charm of expressing things with your whole body, while singing and playing the guitar requires a different kind of focus since you have to deliver both the performance and the emotions at the same time. However, for me, I feel the most natural and comfortable when I’m holding a guitar.

5. We don’t really see many band groups in the K-POP industry. Do you think there will be more band groups in the future?
Wooseok: I certainly hope so. I believe there is a unique charm that only band music can offer. As more and more people enjoy a diverse range of music, I’m looking forward to seeing even more bands show their distinct colors in the future.
Myeongseok: Actually, the band scene is already very strongly established. Although the K-POP industry is relatively larger and more mainstream, I see us as belonging to a scene that is similar yet uniquely different. And of course, more bands will definitely keep coming out.
6. Is there any group or idol you would like to collaborate with?
Wooseok: It’s hard to pick just one specific team. Regardless of the genre, I’d love to work on a fun project with any artist who respects each other’s music and can create a great synergy together.
Myeongseok: I’m a huge fan of Karina.
Minhyuk: I’d love to do lots of collaborations with a wide variety of artists.

7. What can fans look forward to in the future? Maybe an album or a music video?
Wooseok: We are always working on new music. It’s a bit early to share the specific details, but we are preparing hard to show you music and stages that are uniquely KIK, so please look forward to it.
Myeongseok: New album coming soon! Please look forward to it a whole lot.
Minhyuk: Actually, we’ve been piling up a lot of demos. I think we’ll be able to share some good news very soon.
8. Has any member visited Türkiye before? Maybe one day, would you like to perform here?
Wooseok: It’s definitely one of the countries I want to visit the most. If we ever get the opportunity to perform in Türkiye, it would be absolutely amazing. I’m really looking forward to meeting the local fans in person and singing along together.
Myeongseok: I’ve heard that Turkish food is incredibly delicious and the people are so kind. Of course! I want to go so badly.
Minhyuk: I really, really want to go!
9. What Turkish food would you most like to try?
Wooseok: I definitely want to try kebab. I’m also very curious about Turkish desserts. I’m sure eating them locally will taste completely different, so I’d love to experience that.
Myeongseok: I really want to go to Salt Bae’s restaurant…
Minhyuk: For me, kebab! I already love it, but I bet it’ll taste even better over there.
10. Could each member recommend one KIK song to the readers?
Wooseok: I’d like to recommend ‘Close’. I think it’s a track where you can naturally feel KIK’s unique atmosphere and emotional vibe.
Myeongseok: I recommend ‘bella’.
Minhyuk: I recommend ‘SIMPLE’.
11. And lastly, what would you like to say to KIK fans in Türkiye?.
Wooseok: Thank you so much for supporting KIK from afar. I truly hope we can meet and greet you in person someday. Until that day comes, please stay healthy and keep listening to our music.
Myeongseok I’ve never been to Türkiye before, but I absolutely want to visit and put on an awesome show…!!! See you soon!!
Minhyuk: Let’s definitely meet on stage.
