Confined White Interview
1. Hello everyone! Could you please introduce yourselves to the readers of White Entertainment?
Hello! We are Confined White, a place where hidden pure white stories reside.
2. What have you been up to lately? Are you currently working on an album or any special events/projects?
At the moment, we are preparing for various festivals and live performances while also working on a new EP scheduled for release later this year. We see this EP as the beginning of Chapter Two for Confined White, and we hope you’ll look forward to it!
3. Of course, everything has its own challenges. What would you say is the biggest challenge of being in a band? What is the hardest part for you?
Hyuk: Lately, I think our biggest challenge has been finding the answer to the question, “What is the most authentic Confined White sound and story?” These days, I find myself wanting to paint with even deeper colors and express ourselves more vividly.
4. How did you realize you were interested in music? When did you first think, “I want to become an artist”?
Hyuk: What began as something fun quickly became much more. After experiencing the catharsis of being on stage, I couldn’t forget that feeling, and it inspired me to dream of performing my own music.
Taebeom: I dreamed of becoming an artist after seeing a live performance by the jazz group Fourplay for the first time.
Jaemin: Music was originally just a hobby for me, but after watching a live concert video of John Mayer in Los Angeles, I was deeply moved. That experience led me to where I am today.
Daemyeong: Hearing a guitar arrangement of Canon Variations made me dream of becoming a guitarist.
5. If you could collaborate with any group or idol in the industry, who would you like it to be?
Hyuk: They’re true legends, but I would love the chance to work with Sigur Rós and Bon Iver. Dreams should be as big as possible, right?
Taebeom: I absolutely love My Bloody Valentine. Collaborating with them would be a dream come true.
Jaemin: I deeply admire John Mayer.
Daemyeong: The 1975. I think they’re artists who clearly express their own identity regardless of genre, and that’s something that closely resembles what we aspire to as a band.
6. I have to say, I really love your fashion styles! What is the one fashion item you consider a must-have in your outfits?
Hyuk: Lately, I’ve been enjoying wearing eyewear and scarves. I love how they add both sophistication and individuality.
Taebeom: I like wearing ear cuffs, rings, and necklaces. They’re subtle but still make a strong statement.
Jaemin: I don’t have one specific item that I always wear. As long as it adds detail and serves as a point of interest, I like it.
Daemyeong: I’m a big fan of wristwatches.
7. If you were not part of a band, what profession do you think you would have pursued instead?
Hyuk: There are so many things I’d love to do, so it’s hard to choose. But I think I would have challenged myself as a visual director in the fashion industry or maybe even as the owner of a craft beer pub.
Taebeom: I’d probably be an entrepreneur. I’m pretty confident when it comes to business conversations!
Jaemin: When I was young, I dreamed of becoming a zookeeper.
Daemyeong: A professional boxer. I’ve enjoyed boxing since I was young. I love how it requires you to think through countless possibilities in an instant, and how your efforts are directly reflected in the results.
8. What songs have you been listening to the most lately?
Hyuk: I’ve been listening to Magdalena Bay’s Imaginal Disk. It was an album that gave me a fresh shock in so many different ways.
Taebeom: I really like Sung Si Kyung. He’s one of Korea’s most representative ballad artists, and his delicate voice is incredibly captivating.
Jaemin: Blonde by Frank Ocean. To me, it’s an album that embodies a sense of freedom. It also taught me what truly cool sound can be.
Daemyeong: “Glósóli” by Sigur Rós. It’s one of my favorite songs to listen to during quiet early mornings.
9. If you were to recommend some of your own songs to our readers, which ones would you choose?
Hyuk: I’d recommend “We Were Like That” (Urineun Geureoke). It’s one of our songs that I return to whenever life feels difficult.
Taebeom: I’d like to introduce “Confined White.” Since it shares the same name as our band, it contains the message that best represents who we are.
Jaemin: “Hello, dear.” I love songs with a sentimental and emotional atmosphere, and I think this song captures all of those elements perfectly.
Daemyeong: I’d recommend “Spark” (Bulssi). Whenever I perform it on stage, it fills me with overwhelming emotion.
10. Lastly, through White Entertainment, is there anything you would like to say to your fans in Türkiye?
We sincerely thank all of our fans in Türkiye.
It still amazes us that our music is reaching you across both language and distance, and we are incredibly grateful for that. Thank you for listening to our songs from wherever you are and for sharing your hearts with us.
We hope that one day we can meet you in person in Türkiye and sing together in the same space. Until that day comes, we will continue to tell our most honest stories through our music.
